We recently profiled on this blog five of the best areas in Ohio where entrepreneurs could kick off a small business of their own. Courtesy of the personal finance website NerdWallet, here are three more places that local would-be business owners should look to to bring their entrepreneurial ambitions to life:
- Kenwood: This Hamilton County town ranks high on businesses with paid employees (49.95 percent) and low on unemployment (4.6 percent), with a median annual income of $63,063 — the highest such salary of all four Hamilton County entries in NerdWallet’s top 10.
- Ontario: “This community of 6,172 residents […] has seen strong growth in recent years, attracting employers by way of incentives including the Ontario Job Creation Tax Credit,” writes Jonathan Todd for NerdWallet. “The project has worked well — for example, Cole Tooling & Stamping moved to Ontario from nearby Mansfield, and the company reportedly expects to see a 25 percent increase in jobs ‘over the next few years, each year.'”
- Sharonville: To the northwest of Blue Ash, another Ohio town on this top 10 list, Sharonville boasts the state’s second-highest rate of businesses with paid employees: 54.73 percent. In other words, more than half of the small businesses in Sharonville are established companies with paid workforces, rather than just having a single person (or proprietor) behind the business’ name. Additionally, Sharonville is a huge draw for talent throughout the entire area. The city prides itself on having a daytime population of 39,000, nearly triple of its actual population of 13,500 — meaning that thousands in the area flock to Sharonville just for work.
