Ohio is focusing on innovative businesses this month, as part of its Ohio Business Profile program. For almost five years, this initiative has highlighted significant local businesses and used the government’s website to bring them greater attention. The four businesses currently featured on this page as part of the program span various fields, including multiple kinds of manufacturing, from healthcare technology to pocket knives.
Ohio is focusing on innovative businesses this month.
Assurex Health combines data analysis with medical support to help healthcare providers. Battelle, based out of Columbus, works on research and development, while rp+m specializes in additive manufacturing. Finally, HTK Company produces the Handy Safety Knife, a product that comes from the company’s original patent for the Handy Ring Knife, filed more than a century ago.
As part of the innovation spotlight, each of these companies discussed what they appreciate the most about operating out of Ohio. Reasons range from the convenient location (near much of the country’s manufacturing) to a large pool of talent.
In a press release on the month’s profile, Secretary of State Jon Husted explained the importance of innovation in business, particularly within this state.
“Innovators are the risk-takers, the dreamers, the people that believe that what isn’t—can be,” he said. “Ohio is a great place for innovators and entrepreneurs because they are problem-solvers by nature and can grow here with our business-friendly environment and through collaborative partnerships in our diverse economy.”
As the local government pays closer attention to small businesses with big ideas, these companies can potentially take advantage of local grants. Growth Capital Corp. is an important resource for those owners looking for loans for small businesses.
